That seems not to be the case. I converted the patch into a SynthDef
(bypassing crucial-lib altogether) and I still have the problem.

Occasionally at the onset of this synthdef, the amplitude can range
from +40 to +4000. This is insane because the source audio buffer
contains no values outside the range -1.0 .. 1.0. In this incarnation
I don't get NaN's from Pan2, but the large-amplitude signal is quite
unacceptable for my piece.

http://www.dewdrop-world.net/noise-problem.zip contains files which I
believe will reproduce the problem (eventually). Often I have to run
the process for 15 minutes, maybe an hour, before I get the out-of-
range output values. It's sporadic, but just frequent enough that I
might have to abandon my current composition if I can't fix it.

The archive contains an rtf with the test code, an audio file, and
a .sc file with a couple of Pattern classes from my lib.

Please note, this is from an actual piece I'm working on. I will get
very cross if I find out later that someone stole it for their own work.

Thanks.
