I think everyone is having trouble understand why this discussion is
taking place at all.  In short, what is your point?

Are you trying to define an OSC-based standard to replace MIDI in the
music industry?  If so, you should be talking to industry execs, who
actually have the power to make that happen, not the OSC dev list, who
are just interested in maintaining a general-purpose message packet
format and discussing ways in which it can be improved.

We, that is, most of us on this mailing list, are _already_ using OSC
instead of MIDI for all our interested applications of this
technology.  So you are preaching to the choir, in a sense.  Many of
us also realize that OSC, like MIDI, is not the be-all end-all
solution to music-related communication.  Anyways, if you are out to
convince the music industry to make use of it, be my guest, but
arguing over the frequency of middle C is really pretty pointless and
I don't see how it gets you closer to your goal.
